We’ll kickoff the 6th annual Visions of the Wild Festival with the opening of Smokey Bear@75, an exhibit of memorabilia and vintage paintings in celebration of Smokey Bear’s 75th birthday. Enjoy a free catered reception with drinks, award presentations. special guests and featured speakers.


Smokey Bear@75 – This exhibition includes Smokey Bear memorabilia from the personal collection of Craig and Jill Williams. Craig is the President of the Smokey Bear Association, a national organization of Smokey Bear collectors. The show also includes a series of 19 reproductions of Smokey Bear paintings by Rudolf Wendelin, the artist responsible for Smokey’s image. This collection from the National Agricultural Library is on a national tour in 2019, which is the 75th year since the birth of the real Smokey Bear.


Jeff Frost – artist/filmmaker will talk about his film California on Fire, which screens on Friday night at the Empress Theatre.

Stacey Sargent Frederick from the California Fire Science Consortium will speak about “The Many Faces of Fire” in California.

Award Presentations

Presentation of the festival’s annual Wild Visionary Award and the Vallejo Community Arts Foundations “Community Artist” Award.
